January 28th, 2009: The Kind of Rafting You Shouldn`t Try At Home
So, I was standing in a river. I was pretty close to the bank, but there was this man standing in the middle of the river. He was wearing something on his feet that looked like a mix of mini skis and snowshoes. And they made him able to walk on water (someone should recommend this to Peter when he's feeling insecure). He called it "rafting" though, and that's really what it was. The river was pretty wild, lots of currents and rocks, which doesn't seem like a good combination when you're doing something like waterskiing down it (minus the boat in front). And this man was an instructor. He taught tourists how to use these things. And there was a couple standing not far from me, who were trying it out. I wasn't wearing anything on my feet though (then again I've never been into extreme sports) but I was listening to what he was saying.Later I was looking at a page in a newspaper. And there were these pictures in black and white of a Japanese couple (not the couple I'd seen in the river) all bloodied up. They had blood streaming from their heads down their faces. And from reading the article I learned that they'd actually been on a "rafting" course with this instructor, and all three had been hurt in the process.
This was a dream where I was really passive, a nice change. I was just watching, with no involvement, emotional or otherwise. I do feel sorry for the Japanese couple though.
I guess the moral is... Don't try that at home.
